With proper funding we will assist Survivors of Domestic Violence, who are shelter residents in Las Vegas/Henderson Nevada area, to move into a rental property. With available funding we will assist with their security deposits and/or utility deposits. We are also working with management companies who are willing to seek out homeowners and apartment complexes that may be flexible with the security deposits needed to move in.

Once they have secured a rental property, we will offer this 2 year plan:

The participant will be referred to the non-profit organization Consumer Credit Counseling Services. They provide free services such as financial counseling, debt management, tax preparation, financial literacy, bankruptcy counseling and debtor education, IDA and WISH match funds, down-payment assistance, IRS advocacy program and assistance with establishment of checking and/or savings accounts. The goal of this step is to prepare the participant to become a homeowner.
 

When the participant has repaired and/or built their credit to the standards required by lending institutions, they will then be referred to a lender for pre-approval. They will be referred to a licensed Real Estate Agent registered with Beauty For Ashes to find their perfect home. At the successful close of escrow, the participant will receive a rebate of up to 50% of the commission earned on the transaction from the Licensed Real Estate Agent, up to $5,000. This amount will be credited to the new homeowner through escrow immediately at closing.

Each participant will receive, if needed, a pre-paid cell phone from the Verizon Wireless HopeLine Program. Each phone has 3,000 minutes on them and is good for 1 year. Also they will receive a kitchen set-up kit from the Las Vegas Rescue Mission which will include pots and pans, dishes and other household items.
